Meet Mr & Mrs. Mohan Sheth Katdhare located at Shir Village near Guhagar, Dist. Ratnagiri at 17°28' 59.50"N 73°11' 24.50"E at an average 10 Meters MSL
He is listening to AIR Pune FM 101 MHz Vividh Bharati services at an aerial distance of
154 Kms. from Sinhgad where our transmitter is located.
Previously when we were operating on 2 X 3 KW FM Transmitter GCEL make, he was unable to tune in clearly at such a far distance.
His passion to listen to radio took him to an antenna & booster manufacturing company in Pune.
He got designed one booster & an antenna 30 Feet high to serve his purpose.
Once we upgraded our transmitter to 10 KW Rohde & Schwarz he immediately called upon Control Room in Pune asking about the modification we had done to the transmitting system, as he no longer required an antenna and a booster.
His enthusiasm can be judged at this age also from the fact that he called control room AIR Pune, asking for guidance while standing in the shop in Colorado for purchasing the radio receiver, after which he purchased GRUNDIG receiver at the cost of 60 US Dollars.
AIR Pune team comprising Patange (SEA), Hoshing (EA), Sonawane (Tech), Raut (Helper) visited Shri Katdhare’s Village when they were on Field Strength Survey Tour of AM & FM towards Ratnagiri, & were pleased to see him.
Till that time they were unaware of the fact that he is the same person who had called upon Control room at various times. They had even forgotten his name, only the link they had, was his phone no. stored in one of their team members mobile.
They were surprised to hear from him about the existing & upcoming DRM transmissions by All India Radio.
Now he is searching for the best DRM Receiver in the global market .
